At TWMAD, we support children and young people facing challenges linked to SEND, SEMH, behaviour, emotional regulation, safeguarding, disengagement from education, and complex social situations.
We are now looking to expand our team of Specialist Mentors — experienced practitioners who can build trust, create structure, and support meaningful change.
About The Role
This is not a standard mentoring role.
Our Specialist Mentors work with children and young people who may:
• Have Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or additional needs
• Struggle with emotional regulation or behaviour
• Be disengaged from education
• Present safeguarding or exploitation concerns
• Require alternative provision or specialist support
Sessions may take place in schools, homes, communities, or alternative settings depending on the needs of the young person.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for people with strong experience supporting children and young people with complex needs through areas such as:
• SEND / SEMH support
• Tutoring or alternative provision
• Residential care
• Youth work
• Behaviour intervention
• Emotional regulation support
• Safeguarding and pastoral support
But qualifications alone are not enough.
The right people for this role are also:
• Relatable and emotionally intelligent
• Calm under pressure
• Adaptable in communication
• Professional without being robotic
• Able to genuinely connect with young people
Young people engage best with adults who feel real, safe, and consistent.
The Role May Include
- 1:1 specialist mentoring and intervention
• Emotional regulation and behaviour support
• Supporting engagement with education and routine
• Delivering positive activities and relationship-based sessions
• Supporting EHCP and wider professional outcomes
• Multi-agency communication and safeguarding reporting
• Session planning and professional report writing
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people
• Strong understanding of SEND, SEMH, or safeguarding
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Ability to work flexibly across different settings
• Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one
• Strong communication and professional boundaries
