About this role

Help shape the next chapter of the Co-op Foundation as it strengthens its governance, impact and distinctive role as a co-operative grantmaker.

Location: UK-wide with Board meetings primarily in Manchester

Time commitment: 1 – 2 days per month

Applications close: 9 a.m. Monday 7th September 2026

About the Co-op Foundation

Co-op Foundation is Co-op’s charity. For 25 years, we have worked with communities, young people and partners across the UK to support fairer, more co-operative futures.

We are an independent charitable foundation with a close relationship to the wider Co-op movement. Our work is shaped by co-operative values, including democracy, equity, solidarity, self-help and self-responsibility.

We believe that communities are strongest when people have the power, resources and support to shape change for themselves.

About the roles

We’re seeking two new Trustees to strengthen the Board as the organisation prepares for its next strategic phase.

These appointments come at an important moment. The Foundation is reviewing how it can increase its impact, sharpen its role as Co-op’s charity and continue to operate with clear independence, strong governance and a productive relationship with the wider Co-op Group.

Who we are looking for

Across both roles, you will bring maturity, curiosity and constructive challenge. You will understand the importance of charity independence, good governance and effective relationships between Trustees and executive leaders.

We would welcome hearing from people with diverse backgrounds, perspectives and lived experience, including those with experience across Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, or communities outside major English cities.

Specifically, we would like to engage people with expertise in:

·       Governance, audit, risk and finance

·       Grantmaking and programmes

Applications for these roles close at 9 a.m. Monday 7th September 2026.
