Active Prospects exists because everyone deserves to lead an aspiring life. 

For over 30 years, we have provided high-quality supported living, residential and community services across south-east England for people with learning disabilities, autistic people, and those with complex physical and mental health needs. 

Today, our team of around 500 people supports over 300 people each year, and in 2024, we were certified as a Great Place to Work, with 95% of our staff saying they are proud of what we achieve together. 

We are at an exciting and genuinely significant moment, with our new strategy 2025-8 setting out an ambitious plan. We are on the pathway to becoming a Registered Social Landlord, which will open up new opportunities to develop more homes for the people we support. Sound governance and strategic oversight are central to making that ambition a reality.

About the roles

We are looking for new Trustees to join a board that has a genuinely open and engaged relationship with our executive team. These are roles for people who enjoy meaningful dialogue, who ask the questions that need to be asked and who are both supportive and challenging in equal measure. We are looking for the following skills and experience:

• Expertise in business development, commissioning, contracting or grants , Trust or Foundations. This person could come from a variety of backgrounds such as in the commercial or private sector, or business development in social care, or charity sector, or someone with a background in commissioning services. What is important is someone who can support us to develop commercially, and to expand services, business models and how we operate.
• Expertise in quality & assurance. This person will have a background in services supporting autistic people.

You will work closely with our board, Chief Executive and in particular our Director of Care and our Director of Business Development. We need trustees who understand our context and can help us navigate it with both rigour and humanity.

Who we're looking for

Alongside your expertise, you will bring a genuine interest in the social care sector and in what it means to provide high-quality support to people with complex needs.

What matters is that you have experience and understanding to contribute, the confidence to ask probing questions and the willingness to make this a genuine priority.

You will be practical, enjoy working in dialogue with others, work at pace, be genuinely curious about our organisation, our people, our challenges and our ambitions and have the capacity to make a real difference.
