Fundraising Officer

Tushinde Children’s Trust provides tailored family support, social care, daycare, and access to education to prevent vulnerable children from ending up abandoned or institutionalised. Based in the UK, the charity has been operating in the Mathare and Kiambiu informal settlements of Nairobi, Kenya since 2010.

Key Responsibilities

1. Fundraising & Grant Bids

• Execute the UK strategy to grow income across trusts, foundations, corporate partners, and individual donors.

• Craft clear, high-quality grant proposals and maintain master application templates.

• Oversee the research and administrative pipeline for new funding opportunities.

• Track application deadlines, milestone reporting, and manage the overall fundraising calendar.

2. Donor Care & Communications

• Serve as the main UK point of contact, networking across non-profit and corporate sectors.

• Build tailored supporter journeys, ensuring prompt thank-yous and clear donor communication.

• Partner with the Kenya team to translate impact data into compelling campaign assets and stories.

• Review and submit accurate donor reports on time.

3. Systems & Operations 

• Monitor incoming funds against target budgets, producing income projections and progress reports for leadership.

• Lead the internal Grants Committee and maintain clear, efficient fundraising workflows.

• Ensure the accuracy and data integrity of the fundraising CRM database.

Skills & Technical Abilities

• Exceptional grant-writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strict attention to funder criteria and word limits.

• Confidence to be able to represent Tushinde.

• Ability to manage competing deadlines and work autonomously in a remote environment.

• Proficient in Google Workspace and social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
