
Freelance Speech and Language Therapist (Children with Down Syndrome)

Downright Excellent is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT) to join our expert freelance team, supporting children and young people with Down syndrome.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a well-established, specialist charity, delivering high-quality, tailored interventions that make a real difference to children and families.
About the Role
You will work with school-aged children with Down syndrome as part of our multidisciplinary team, delivering engaging and evidence-informed speech and language support.
A central part of the role is leading structured small group provision. Sessions are primarily delivered face-to-face on Saturdays (term time only), with potential for additional online sessions during the week after school.
We welcome flexible working arrangements and are open to job share options (e.g. one practitioner leading in-person delivery and another supporting online sessions).
Key Details
· Location: Tower Hamlets (nearest station: Hoxton)
· Working pattern: Saturdays, 8:30am – 2:00pm (term time only)
· Additional work: Optional online sessions during weekdays
· Pay: £200–£250 per day (dependent on experience)
· Contract type: Freelance (no holiday pay, sick pay, or pension)
About You
We are looking for a therapist who is:
· A qualified Speech and Language Therapist (recognised professional qualification)
· Experienced in working with children with Down syndrome, or with relevant comparable experience
· Passionate about inclusive practice and child-centred approaches
· Confident delivering both in-person and online therapy
Additional relevant training (e.g. Symbol UK / Symbol Connect, or similar specialist approaches) would be highly beneficial.
