About this role

An exciting opportunity to make a lasting difference

We are looking for an ambitious, creative and inspirational Head of Fundraising to join Unity MK at a pivotal moment in our journey.

We are a homelessness charity in Milton Keynes about to take a big ambition to the next level.

We are developing an exciting capital build project that will transform the way we support people experiencing homelessness in our city. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a lasting legacy for our community - and we need an exceptional leader to help make it happen.

The Role

As our Head of Fundraising and Communications, you will own our fundraising and communications strategy across individual giving, trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, major donors, community fundraising and events.

A major part of your role will be to lead an ambitious capital fundraising campaign to support our new build.

Working closely with the CEO, senior leadership team, fundraising and communications team and our supporters, you will identify and cultivate high-value relationships, develop compelling cases for support and inspire individuals, businesses, trusts and foundations to invest in our vision.

You will have the freedom and responsibility to shape our fundraising and communications function; build on the strong relationships we already have and introduce new approaches that will increase our income and our impact.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to do more than deliver a fundraising plan. You will help shape the future of the organisation.

About You

You will be an experienced fundraiser with a track record of securing significant income and building strong, long-term relationships with donors and funders.

You might already be leading a fundraising team, or you may be an experienced senior fundraiser ready to roll up your sleeves and apply your strategic thinking and commercial acumen in a broader strategic leadership role.

Most importantly, you will have a commitment to tackling homelessness and be ambitious for the people we support. You will believe that fundraising isn't simply about raising money - it is about bringing people together around a shared vision for change.

Why Join Us?

This is an exciting time to join UnityMK, with the opportunity to:

Lead a transformational capital campaign.
Help secure the investment needed to create a major new facility and shape the future of homelessness services in our area.

Build something lasting.
Your work will leave a legacy that could benefit thousands of people for years to come.

Have genuine influence.
You will work closely with our CEO, Board and senior team and play a key role in shaping organisational strategy.

Make a local difference.
Every successful partnership, gift and campaign will directly contribute to helping people experiencing homelessness move towards a safer, more stable future.

Grow and innovate.
We want someone who will bring fresh ideas, challenge us to think differently and help us build a fundraising operation fit for the next stage of our growth.

Ready to Make Your Mark?

If you're an ambitious fundraiser and communications professional who wants to combine strategic leadership, relationship-based fundraising and a genuinely transformational capital project, we'd love to hear from you.

This is a rare opportunity to use your fundraising expertise to help create something extraordinary for people experiencing homelessness in our community.

We know that great candidates don’t always tick off everything in a Job Description.

If you’re excited about the role and believe you have relevant skills, experience, or a different perspective to bring, we’d still love to hear from you. We value potential, transferable skills, and a willingness to learn just as much as a perfect match on paper.

Please note: All direct applications or speculative CVs to UnityMK will be forwarded to Debbie Burbage Recruitment as part of our exclusive partnership.
